Sun of a Vegan was me & my daughter's top pick vegan restaurant to try, during our visit from Las Vegas..We definitely picked a winner. We both couldn't stop talking about our chopped cheese sandwiches & no I'm not ashamed to say I wanted seconds afterwards, yes that's how delicious it was! Great service, great meal. Thoroughly pleased very well deserved 5 stars.!!

Took a trip here for a graduation but didn’t want to leave before trying this particular restaurant. I’m beyond happy we did. We ordered 2 fried oyster baskets, strawberry milkshakes, & strawberry lemonades. The energy of the owner, the young lady working there, the overall environment, & the food was amazing. Whenever we’re visiting, this will definitely be our go to spot EVERY TIME. I wish there were more than 5 stars I could give.

I wasn’t sure what to expect because I am not vegan, I repeat I am not vegan! But I had heard SUCH great things about this place. Well..it did NOT disappoint!! Hubby and I ordered a chopped cheese sandwich and tacos . We were literally fighting over the last bite of food! Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS! The tacos, the fried mushrooms, the chopped cheese, OMG! The owner was so sweet and kind and you can tell they really care that you have a great experience! Upon leaving we decided to try the cookies and cream shake..another win! If you’re looking for some delicious food , don’t pass this place up ! It’s is worth every single bite. My experience here was very pleasant. The food was cooked to order, so it came out super fresh. I loved the fact that they have board games for you to choose from to keep you occupied while waiting. My friend and I played trouble, and were completely distracted from the fact that we were still waiting for our food. We tried the appetizer platter which consisted of fried pickles, fried oyster mushrooms and onion rings. All were a 10 out of 10! The flavor was on point. My friend had their tacos (she enjoyed those as well) and I had the Fried oyster basket. French fries were on point. Seasoned to perfection! I like their sauces, the dill ranch was my fav. It is located in the old hickory hill mall, sketchy location, but the vibe was very lowkey inside. All in all, I had a great experience and would recommend to those looking for vegan/plant based dining options.

Found them on Happy Cow and it was a hidden gem in the mall. I got the Comeback Combo and a Cake Shake, and everything from start to finish was incredible. The staff were warm and welcoming; it honestly felt like I was being fed by a friend who just happens to be an amazing cook. The food was so good! The fried oyster mushrooms were the bomb. Perfectly crunchy and paired so well with the sauces. The tea was also surprisingly great, refreshing without being too sweet- I think I overheard them saying they used agave. The whole meal felt thoughtful and homemade in the best way. The vibe in the spot is chill and fun. They had a TV playing movies and there were board games stacked on the side for anyone hanging out. Come with a friend and post up for a bit, play games while you wait for good food. Already planning to come back tomorrow for the tacos and telling my coworkers they need to get over here ASAP.

I treated myself to SOV on my birthday, 2/26, since it was a vegan spot I hadn't visited yet. My craving for fried oyster mushrooms is what led me here due to my favorite place being closed for expansion. I came late in the evening which caused me to order online. However, I made a small mistake of ordering through the doordash link instead of the actual website. Nevertheless, Mrs. SOV helped resolve the issue and got my order placed. Mind you, I signed up for reward points and told Mrs. SOV I'd be back even before I got the food. She was so nice and helpful. Oh, and the FOOD! The food was fresh, seasoned well, and well worth the hour drive. All the sauces were good, but the ranch shocked me. It was runner than a normal ranch but the flavor DID NOT disappoint. I had enough food for lunch the next day as well! Of course I got the oreo blast too! It was so big, I didn't think I was going to finish it, but baby it was so good I scraped it dry lol. The mall may be dead, but Son of A Vegan is alive and well! When I say some of the best food I've had... let alone vegan food in Memphis of all places?! Total understatement. If you want to something that will surprise you then this is place. I don't give out reviews unless a place is exceptional. They have earned the recognition for sure! I don't remember what was in the shakes either but that alone is worth going back for!

I’m not a vegan so I was a little skeptical trying it out, but this food did not disappoint!!! The chopped cheese, and the quesadillas were sooo good. Vegan or not trust me the food will be worth it. Not to mention the owner welcomed us with a smile and made sure we were satisfied! Thanks again SOV we will definitely be back.
